We have closely followed the trends and updated our formats several times in the last 10 years.  About 30% of our clients are managers which helps us to gain good quality current market feedback from discussions with the managers and also by studying or researching information from current employment related publications.

Job applications need to be simply presented with the relevant details, formatted logically with aesthetic appeal and written in a concise manner.  No busy manager or recruiter is going to thank you for trying to make them read more than is necessary to get the story.

Email is a handy device for communicating simple details, but does not come even close to a proper discussion on complex matters.  If necessary quite reasonable outcomes can be achieved by email if the information supplied is comprehensive and good quality, but usually a better result will be achieved in personal matters by having a direct discussion.

  • Employment history, including names of employers, dates, positions and key duties
  • Voluntary or community work, paid or unpaid (especially for transferable skills)
  • Special achievements in career, academic or sporting areas (persistence or discipline)
  • Commendations or awards of any nature (can show performance or dedication)
  • Interests, hobbies and leisure activities (sometimes; if they support skills or attributes)
  • Memberships (Current) of organisations or associations (community or social interest)
  • Telephone referees (3) – Name / address, position / title and organisation / company
